Jimmy O'Donnell - Director of Photography
Jimmy ODonnell is a member of The International Cinematographers Guild, has earned 2 Emmy’s and numerous nominations over his 26 year career working in Film & Television production. From a very early age, Jimmy’s passion for capturing images was apparent as he could always be seen with camera in hand. In 1983, ODonnell began working at Rebo Studio in NYC. In 1986 Rebo Studio became the first High Definition production company in the USA. During Jimmy’s time at Rebo; 83 – 89, he worked on hundreds of productions in every genre with the most cutting edge, state of the art equipment and some of the most talented technicians in the industry.
ODonnell has traveled the world over capturing beautiful and dramatic images. Weather rigging a helicopter for aerial shots over Alaska or shooting inside a comfortable studio, Jimmy’s passion is always there striving to get the best possible images regardless of any challenge that may present itself.
Over the years, ODonnell has shot a wide variety of projects and genre’s. From Corporate to Commercials and from Children’s TV to Documentary…Jimmy draws from this experience and feels that it helps him “fit” in to any situation and enables him to deal with even the most demanding of personalities. ODonnell points to his 15 years of shooting multi award winning shows such as Sesame Street and Reading Rainbow, as a training ground for patience and sensitivity.
ODonnell is currently shooting several documentaries & commercial spots for WE & Discovery, VH1 and just wrapped a one hour special for PBS with the highly successful Dr. Perricone MD/Author.
